Kenya Harlequin Football Club has confirmed the management group for the 2025 / 2026 rugby season under new Head Coach Patrice Agunda.
The twelve-member group includes eight members from the previous Kenya Harlequin management group.
Nine members have prior experience with senior international teams, and all twelve have had Kenya Cup management roles.
This team brings an exciting blend of traditional Quins values, top-level rugby experience, and innovative, ground-breaking coaching ideas.
The new team has already taken over, and we are ready to support them and see what they can achieve.
Joel Nganga, Kenya Harlequin Director of Rugby In new appointments, current Kenya Lionesses co-captain Sheila Chajira takes over as coach of the Women’s XVs and 7s teams.
Michael Shamiah leads a revamped strength and conditioning department; he has led SnC for Kenya’s national teams.
Joining Shamiah in the SnC department is Kenya Harlequin and Kenya national rugby legend Willy Ambaka, who will lead SnC for the 7s sides.
Simon Odongo has been promoted to Deputy Head Coach. In this role, he will run Kenya Harlequin’s 7s programme and work as a defense coach for XVs.
Assistant Coaches Eden Agiro and Brian Onyiego continue as Skills and Attack and ESS coach/Development & Women coaches, respectively.
Gerald Omondi, Kate Muisyo, and Kennedy Barua maintain continuity in the physiotherapy and injury rehabilitation department.
Gerald Omondi and Michael Shamiah were key facilitators and trainers in the recently concluded Kenya Rugby Union, Rugby Afrique, and World Rugby Super Week 2025, a premier capacity-building event that brings together elite-level training courses aimed at growing and professionalizing rugby in Kenya and the region.
Wayne Mungei has been promoted to General Team Manager and will be assisted by Christeve Wangila, who takes over as the Women’s Team Manager.
