The greens at Thika Sports Club were buzzing this Wednesday as a record-breaking 237 golfers turned out for the Clubnite tournament.

The turnout made this an unforgettable day of competitive golf and camaraderie.

The day’s highlight was George K’Ouma, Vice Captain Thika Sports Club, who clinched the Overall winner title with a fantastic score of 69 nett playing off a handicap of 16.

K’Ouma’s victory was the result of a consistently strong performance throughout his round.

“My motivation for the win started the moment I saw the array of prizes,” said K’Ouma. “I sent pictures to the members encouraging them to play well so they could take one home. That motivation, plus the challenge of competing against lower-handicap players, really pushed me to perform. I’m thrilled with the result – I honestly didn’t expect to win against such great players.”

He added that playing alongside Onassis Ndegwa, who plays off handicap one, pushed him to step up his game.

The competition was fierce across all divisions.  The event was sponsored by Old Mutual, a leading Integrated financial services provider.

In the men’s categories, David Matano, playing off handicap 4, won in Division 1 with a score of 72 nett, while Julius Mwaura, playing off handicap 16, claimed the top spot in Division 2 with an excellent 69 nett. Handicap 28, Wilson Njega secured the Division 3 title with a solid 70 nett.

The ladies also put on an impressive show. Esther Thal, playing off handicap 16, was the Division 1 winner with 73 nett.

Alice Dan claimed the Division 2 prize with 71 nett, and Margaret Magothe, playing off handicap 33, won in Division 3 with a score of 70 nett.

Other notable winners included Dennis Nyaga, the Sponsor winner with 69 nett, playing off handicap 37, and Sam Njenga, the Gross winner with 80 gross, off handicap 7.

Maina Kinyua won the Supplementary award with 60 nett. Johnson Maritawa emerged as the Junior winner with a score of 92 nett.

Joseph Mbitu and Patricia Ndegwa took home the First and Second Nine prizes, respectively.
