WIPER LEADER KALONZO MUSYOKA ANNOUNCES OPPOSITION TO FORM SHADOW CABINET.
Opposition leader Wiper Party’s Kalonzo Musyoka now declares that Azimio la Umoja One Kenya opposition coalition is set to name its own shadow Cabinet.
Speaking during the Katiba@14 event at Ufungamano House on Wednesday, Kalonzo revealed the shape and structure of this unofficial ministerial team tasked with monitoring and holding President William Ruto’s Cabinet to account.
Kalonzo was keen to note that the shadow Cabinet would be representative, and Kenyans from all age sets would have a place there, including the Gen Zs who recently protested against the government.
“The first big announcement we shall make from Ufungamano is that we’re going to form a shadow Cabinet, and the Gen Zs and all generations will be involved.”. We must fight these people from every corner…from every ministry…they will be held accountable…and we work with the Gen Zs and all the generations.”
Kalonzo’s remarks come in the wake of President Ruto’s trip to Luo Nyanza, which began on the same day.
Kalonzo further belittled the visit by Ruto, insinuating that Kenyans already knew the character of the president and, as such, would not successfully win the election if held anytime soon.
“We are going to fight them at every stage; we are going to fight them from the mountaintops, the valleys, the street corners…we are not going to allow them to make this country a Banana Republic. Even if he goes to Luo Nyanza 20 times and launches projects 30 times, Kenyans know him,” he said.
This comes in the wake of President Ruto unveiling a broadly representative Cabinet even from opposition, particularly Azimio-allied Orange Democratic Movement-ODM party members.
The move attracted criticism both from the public and at a political level, as constituent parties in Azimio voiced their discontent.
Kalonzo’s announcement for a shadow Cabinet is part of a tactical move in fighting perceived challenges emanating from the Ruto regime.
