The High Court has summoned Acting Police IG, Gilbert Masengeli. He is supposed to appear before the court on Tuesday at 3 pm. This is for questioning over the disappearance of three people in Kitengela that happened two weeks ago.

Justice Lawrence Mugambi made the order on August 28. He directed the Inspector General of Police, DPP, AG, DCI, and National Intelligence Service to reveal the locations of Bob Micheni, Jamil Longton and Aslam Longton. The case was filed by the Law Society of Kenya.

LSK accuses that the three were abducted by armed police, taken to unknown locations, and held incommunicado. LSK reports the three have been involved in activism against the Finance Bill, calling on the youth to reject the bill and join protests for change.

In the case documents filed by LSK, the respondents accused them of using armed police officers to abduct them. Bob Micheni is said to have been taken away on August 19, 2024. He was abducted at about 10:40 pm while walking home from a matatu commonly known as the Rembo shuttle in Kasina area.

They also reported that Jamil and Aslam Longton were kidnapped on August 19, 2024. The incident reportedly occurred at 2:00 pm when the two left their house in Kitengela and were allegedly pushed into a white Subaru and taken to an unknown location.

LSK claims none of the three has been charged with any offence. In fact, no charges have been preferred against them in any court of law in Kenya, to the best knowledge of LSK. For that matter, the continued detention of these persons remains unexplained.
