UDA to receive Ksh 558 million while ODM to receive 298 million

President William Ruto’s UDA and opposition party ODM are set to be the biggest beneficiaries of the Political Parties Fund in the 2024/2025 Financial year.

According to a Gazette Notice published by the Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu on Friday, September 27, the ruling party is set to receive Ksh558.4 million this year.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s ODM will receive Ksh298.3 million.

“The allotted funds shall be paid quarterly upon receipt from the National Treasury,” part of the notice read.

Among other parties that received a huge chunk of the allocation is the Jubilee Party that is led by former President Uhuru Kenyatta. The party is set to receive Ksh130.8 million.

Azimio’s Wiper party was also listed among the parties to receive funding with an allocation of Ksh69.8 million.

Democratic Action Party-Kenya (DAP-K) led by Eugene Wamalwa will get Ksh30,621,843 while Amani National Congress (ANC), which was associated with Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi, gets Ksh25,758,881.

Ford-Kenya will pocket Ksh25 million while KANU was listed to pocket Ksh23.2 million.

On the contrary, Narc-Kenya party belonging to Martha Karua will get Ksh7,314,719.

“Monies allocated to a registered political party or coalition political party shall be used for purposes compatible with democratic principles including promoting active participation by individual citizens in political life,” the party that Nderitu vies explained.

“The funding is also used in promoting the representation in Parliament and in the County Assemblies of women, persons with disabilities, youth, ethnic and other minorities and marginalized communities,”
