Civilian casualties rise as violence escalates in Gaza.

A DESTROYED BUILDING IN GAZA

Details of the Strikes

On Thursday evening, Israeli airstrikes hit two residential houses in Gaza City, killing at least 15 Palestinians and injuring dozens more, according to Palestinian officials. The attacks occurred in the Sheikh Radwan and Sabra neighborhoods, where rescue teams continue searching for survivors trapped under the rubble.

In the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, 13 people lost their lives, and 40 others were injured after an airstrike targeted a house for displaced individuals. Another strike in the Sabra neighborhood killed two people and wounded over 20 others.

Escalating Conflict

Israel has been carrying out an extensive military offensive in Gaza since Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack on southern Israel. The attack killed approximately 1,200 Israelis and led to the capture of 250 hostages.

Israel has stated its operations aim to dismantle Hamas’s infrastructure, but the bombardments have significantly impacted Gaza’s civilian population.

Rising Death Toll

Gaza-based health authorities report that the death toll in Gaza has reached 45,399 Palestinians since the start of Israeli operations. The conflict has created a dire humanitarian crisis, with thousands of displaced families and critical shortages of medical supplies, food, and water.

International Reactions

There has been no immediate comment from the Israeli military regarding the Thursday strikes. The international community remains deeply divided, with calls for both restraint and accountability for actions leading to civilian casualties.
