DEPUTY PRESIDENT GACHAGUA DEMANDS UNWAVERING LOYALTY AND ANTI-CORRUPTION COMMITMENT FROM NEW CABINET SECRETARIES

DP Gachagua challenged the newly appointed Cabinet Secretaries to unblinkingly remain loyal to President William Ruto. “Loyalty to the head of state and government is not negotiable. You are now soldiers in an army that has only one general,” declared Gachagua.
He also cautioned the new members of the broad-based government against corruption.
Gachagua, in his address following the induction at the National Defense University, further urged Cabinet members to embrace servant leadership and maintain an open-door policy: “Don’t confine yourself to your office. Move around and discover what is truly happening. Have an open-door policy that encourages full and frank input from those who work under you.”.
He said that these practices would enhance the flow of diverse opinions and ingenious ideas.
“We are bound by oath and honor to exercise our power strictly in accordance with the Constitution and to use that power for the enduring benefit of the people,” said Gachagua.
While addressing the recent protests by Gen Z, Gachagua said he felt the need to address their demands for better leadership.
“This youthfulness comes with immense opportunities to harness their energy, passion, and creativity; it also comes with heightened pressures and greater expectations. Our leadership’s great task is to initiate an industrial, agricultural and digital age revolution that creates millions of jobs, particularly for the youth,” he said.
In his speech, Gachagua asked the Cabinet members to shun personal views while performing their official duties, emphasizing strict adherence to the Constitution.
“You are now bound by collective responsibility. Whatever view you held against a matter, the moment it is directed by the President or resolved in Cabinet, it is your duty to defend it fiercely and firmly. You no longer have personal views or observations. Your declarations are now considered policy pronouncements,” said the Deputy President.
