EMBAKASI MP BABU OWINO HITS BACK AT MUSEVENI’S ATTACK

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino hit back hard at Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni’s accusations of meddling in Uganda’s political affairs.

Museveni accused Babu Owino of teaming up with opposition elements in Uganda, as part of his endorsement of Raila Odinga candidature for the AUC chairpersonship.

The MP took to X and fired back at Museveni, denying the claims while declaring his unwavering support for democracy.

Babu, in his address, spoke of his personal experiences, how he grew up from a poor background, and how well-equipped he is with the ills that are associated with poverty.

He can associate the fact that Kenya and Uganda maintain similar economic conditions and how it was also in need of visionary leaders who understand the plight of the youth in both countries.

He spoke of his own life, where hunger and scarcity of educational resources underlay serving as the basis for empathy and leadership.

MP’s comments also seemed to belittle Museveni’s long tenure and insinuated that the Ugandan President was an obstacle to progress and innovation needed to change the people’s needs.

Babu reiterated his belief in democracy for changing conditions, stating that Africans deserve leaders who can offer alternative visions and solutions in order to combat oppression and poverty.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna also took issue with the methodology used by the Ugandan President in responding after Museveni’s public castigation.

He strongly disapproved of using a presidential podium to castigate a Kenyan leader, holding that issues of such a nature should be channeled through appropriate diplomatic processes and not public verbal attacks.

“Kenya is a sovereign country where the rule of law reigns, and any grievance anyone may have had against Owino,”  he said, should have been pursued through proper legal and diplomatic offices.
