Speaking in Taita Taveta on Sunday President William Ruto expressed the Government’s commitment to supporting Kenyans who leave the country for jobs abroad.
The head of State noted 1000 Kenyans leave the country every week to take overseas jobs.
“I have done my work; I have looked for jobs abroad. I have planned that those going for overseas jobs get their passports in one week. They do not even need money for flight tickets, we will pay for flight,” stated the President.
He continued by urging Members of Parliament to organize youths in their constituencies so that they benefit from the jobs abroad.
In order to tackle youth unemployment in the country, the President has inked deals with various countries, which will see Kenya export its youthful workforce.
Other than those going abroad, Ruto has also been keen on creating digital jobs, where youth can work for overseas companies remotely.
On May 26, President William Ruto promised secure investments and opportunities, including 10,000 overseas jobs for Kenyans.
He noted that the plan will see 250,000 Kenyans work abroad each year.
