JUNET MOHAMMED SUPPORTS BROAD-BASED GOVERNMENT AND RECONCILIATION

Suna East MP Junet Mohammed has voiced his opinion that the formation of broad-based governments is to serve a noble purpose.
“President William Ruto and Azimio coalition leader Raila Odinga finally came together into an arrangement partnership that one would say gives life to a government of unity.”.
Junet added that this was a way of creating adequate job opportunities for the people in the states by forming an all-inclusive government.
The legislator had also added that the recent move must not be inferred as a coalition or partnership between the ODM and UDA parties.
“Hii porojo inaenezwa sana katika mazingira yetu ya kisiasa, lakini ni muhimu kueleza kwamba ODM haina coalition yoyote na UDA. Hatuwezi kukataa kwamba, sisi ni mambo tu ambayo yanaendelea bila mpango mzuri; watu wamekutana tu bila kuzingatia makubaliano rasmi, na wengine wamepewa kazi, lakini hii ni kama hali ya ‘come we stay’ ambayo haina msingi thabiti. Huu ni mfano halisi wa ‘come we stay.’ Ni wazi kwamba watu wameingia katika nyumba hii ya kisiasa kwa namna hiyo tu, na sisi”
There are some bits of information going around which are just not factual. This is to set the record straight that ODM is not in any coalition with UDA; what is going on is basically socialisation of individuals, some being assigned to different positions in the government. This is like a situation where one is told to go and live amicably with someone in a give and take scenario with no clear terms and conditions so to speak. It is a fact that some individuals have comfortably settled within the government, but many more of us are still outside just watching. We have a constitutional responsibility of oversight and we shall do that for the foreseeable future.
He said the party is confident that ODM leaders selected to work in government will deliver.
The Suna East Member of Parliament, on his part, urged all the leaders to be part of the reconciliation process, adding that it was time for campaigns to end.
“We should forgive each other because lots of things were said during the campaign period. We need to start that process of forgiving each other from today onwards,” he said.
Junet said this was time for the country to wrestle with the question of exclusion and that it should be held within government as a people.
He was speaking during the homecoming celebration that ushered in the majority of Cooperative and MSMEs, a function that was presided over by the President on Saturday.
