Activist Morara Kebaso has been arrested from his Kahawa Sukari office. A police officer has confirmed they are interrogating him about the chaos at Bomas.

Morara arrived at his office when people in civilian clothes picked him up. He said, “I have been arrested over what happened at Bomas. Can you imagine? Does it even make sense jamani? Ni nini hii? Ah.”

His lawyer, Pareno Solonka, said Morara was bundled into a Subaru and driven away.

“This is a clear violation of his rights,” Solonka added. The police are focusing on events during the public participation regarding the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

While Morara’s social media handler asked Kenyans to pray for him: His wife, Mercy Morara took to X and stated, “They have arrested @MoraraKebasoSnr again.”

Morara had attended a public meeting where the special motion to remove Gachagua from office was debated. He was compelled to retire from the meeting after he was attacked and injured.

When he arrived at the convocation, he was met with hostility. Scarcely had he sat down than chairs were thrown at him from one group, which hit his head, neck, and legs.

Witnesses said that it was a chaotic and confusing situation. Supporters of Morara are demanding his immediate release. They say police should take responsibility for what took place.

“Is this the democracy we fought for?” shouted one supporter. “We can’t be silenced!” cried another with emotion in his voice. The situation is developing; public outrage is mounting.

More updates are forthcoming.
