DCI Officers arrested Activist Morara Kebaso On Monday, Morara Kebaso, a prominent activist and lawyer, was arrested by men believed to be DCI officers.

The officers confiscated his phones and laptop before driving him away in a green Subaru with registration number KCQ 166J.

Kebaso, who has been at the forefront of exposing abandoned projects and alleged government corruption, was forcibly taken from his office in Kahawa Sukari.

He is the head of a movement called “Inject Kenya ni Home” which calls for transparency and accountability.

Lawyer Pareno Solonka confirmed Kebaso is held at Nairobi Area Police, adding that his lawyers were being denied access to him.

“Morara is being detained at the Regional Police Headquarters. The police have refused to allow access to Morara, even to me as his lawyer,” Solonka posted on X.

The hashtag #FreeMorara is trending at the moment, as Kenyans online demand that he be released.

Solonka said further: “They have strict instructions from the top not to allow anybody access to Morara, including lawyers, media people, and other individuals.

Human rights activist Hussein Khalid of Vocal Africa also spoke out against the police’s actions.

“They have refused to allow us or his lawyers to see him,” said Khalid on video. He maintained that Kebaso had a right to representation, which the police were in breach of.

The police in Kenya today do not follow the law; they follow orders from above. This is unconstitutional and illegal,” Khalid said. He further condemned the arrest as a government attempt to muzzle activists fighting for justice and accountability.

Khalid called for Kebaso’s immediate release, warning that such actions will only embolden Kenyans to stand up against government oppression.
