MARTHA KARUA REJECTS COLLABORATION WITH RUTO, CALLS CABINET RESHUFFLE A ‘DIVERSION’

Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua has, at the very last minute, come out to protest firmly against ever working with President William Ruto.

In a no-nonsense interview on Citizen TV, Karua replied to a question of whether she would have accepted a nomination from Ruto, “Of course I wouldn’t work for William Ruto. Whatever changes and whatever quality of people he gets, he is the minister for everything.”. He won’t allow anyone to work.” She said the government of Ruto did not at any time provide her with employment, thus affirming her decision.

Karua reminisced on her previous experiences working on committees with Ruto as well as Raila Odinga in Parliament.

She said, “I have the experience of working with these people in Parliament, I know at least Raila is easy to work with. One can disagree but one can sit across the table and amicably disagree.” This statement shows her view, in the sense that Raila Odinga can be argued with, is apparently open to positive engagement. In contrast, accusation, Karua hammered on Ruto’s management style, pointing in the direction of a failure to consult and alludes to a more dictatorial style.

To say the least, Karua did not mince her words in bashing Ruto’s latest Cabinet rejig that he peddled as a “sideshow.” Justifying her case, she says that the reshuffling of Cabinet does not help solve any problems in Kenya.

“Cabinet nominations are a diversionary tactic. Ruto got the message that the people want him to go, a fresh start. He then goes ahead to nominate Cabinet and the vetting becomes a circus in parliament.” Indeed, if the comments by Karua are anything to go by, these moves are surface window-dressing, not real reforms.

She further criticized that the vetting process for the nominees to Cabinet Secretaries was a “circus” because it had not addressed real national issues.

Karua argued that the Ruto administration was out of touch with the needs and aspirations of the Kenyan people, especially the younger generation. “The message is that this is more of the same, nothing has changed, nothing will change and the regime is tone deaf to the demands of Kenyans as fronted by the Gen Zs.”
