MOMBASA CEMENT BOSS HASMUKH KANJI DIES AT 58

Philanthropist and business mogul Hasmukh Kanji has passed on today 29th August 2024.

Hasmukh is the owner of Mombasa Cement and has been running several charity projects along the coast region of the n coast.

Tudor MCA Samir Bhaloo who addressed the media on behalf of the family and the relatives officially broke the news to the media about the tragic passing of the Mombasa cement Boss.

“It is very sad this day to announce the death of Mr. Hasmukh Kanji Patel. The CEO of Mombasa Cement has left us,” Bhaloo said.

He said Patel, 58, died at around 1 pm.

“We will update on the funeral arrangements after we consult with the family members,” Bhaloo said.

He was not hospitalized, according to Bhaloo.

He said Patel was at home and not unwell, making his sudden death even more shocking.

“He had a stomach ache. It is God’s work. Let’s pray for him,” he said.

Among the charity project Mr. Pate was handling were: feeding program at the Coast Region general Teaching and Referral Hospital where patients who failed to pay their bills were sponsored by the company. The program was feeding at least 40,000 people across the county.

Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir in a tweet mourned the late as a dedicated person with interest of the people at hand.

“We have learnt with sadness the passing of businessman Hasmukh Patel of Mombasa Cement Limited in Mombasa,” tweeted Nassir

He said Patel will be remembered for his active participation in societal affairs in Mombasa as well as his generous support for the underprivileged.

“I take this opportunity on behalf of the county government of Mombasa to offer deepest condolences to the family of the departed,” Nassir said.

Hasmukh established Mombasa Cement in 2007. By 2018, it had grown to control 15.2% of the cement market with its Nyumba Brand, second only to Lafarge Holding’s Bamburi Cement brand. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business and Business Management from Kingston University in London, United Kingdom. He was also the director of Tororo cement in Uganda and Corrugated Sheets ltd in Kenya.
