The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration has launched a training program for thirty Trainers of Trainers, who will be guided through government organization and functions; security, peace, and safety for citizens; and, most importantly, public participation, engagement, and communication.
According to Raymond Omollo, PS for Internal Security and National Administration, the move is consistent with the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, which focuses on socioeconomic empowerment and inclusive prosperity.
He stated that the training will position National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs) as the driving force behind strategic interventions aimed at boosting Kenya’s prosperity.
“The plan encompasses an array of transformative programmes and interventions designed to elevate every section of the society, with citizens and communities at the lowest level of the social ladder acknowledged in the efforts to revolutionize the country’s landscape of opportunity,” PS Omollo said.
According to the PS, because they are the first point of contact with the grassroots, National Government Administrative Officers play a critical role in transforming service delivery and maximizing the impact of targeted investments.
“We have purposed to conduct a reorientation programme for these officers with the intent to infuse a lead-by-example mindset across the structure and ensure effective, efficient and responsive services at all levels,” he added.
The DCCs, who were chosen on merit, will also be trained on other cross-cutting issues, such as climate change and employee wellness and psychosocial support, before being deployed to cascade the radical shift in mindset to all ranks within the NGAOs structure.
“Our ultimate objective is to ensure that every interaction our administrators have with mwananchi is marked by empathy and a genuine understanding of their unique needs and concerns,” Omollo added.
