OPIYO WANDAYI DEFENDS JOINING RUTO’S CABINET

Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi expressed strong confidence in the decision of ODM leaders to join President William Ruto’s cabinet.

Speaking during his homecoming ceremony in Siaya, Wandayi emphasized that he has never wavered in his commitment.

“I accepted the cabinet position without any doubts about working with President Ruto,” Wandayi said.

He acknowledged the backlash he received but made it clear that he owes no apology.

The move to join Ruto’s government followed his collaboration with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to form a broad-based administration.

As a result, four ODM members, including Wandayi, were appointed to the cabinet. This decision met with mixed reactions across the political spectrum.

“The purpose for which any political party exists is to capture state power and use it for the benefit of the people,” Wandayi explained.

“That is what we have been pursuing all along as ODM. The decision aligns with our party’s objective.”

Wandayi praised the opportunity to be part of the national governance, noting that it was a chance his party had sought but not achieved previously.

“We have joined you because you have given us a chance to participate in governing the nation, something we have always aimed for,” he said.

He assured everyone that the decision was made with conviction.

“We have no regrets about our decision and owe no apologies to anyone,” Wandayi affirmed. He also mentioned that the residents of Siaya have chosen to support him in his political journey.

Wandayi thanked President Ruto for the appointment and noted that his supporters are pleased with the outcome.

He expressed his full confidence in Ruto and Raila’s vision for reconciliation and national unity.

“We have made a conscious decision to join your cabinet and are committed to working with you fully,” Wandayi declared. He called on other leaders to support the President’s development agenda and work together for the benefit of Kenya.
