Senator Richard Onyonka of Kisii believes that President William Ruto needs to take responsibility for the errors done by the administration of his predecessor, Uhuru Kenyatta.
The senator criticized the Kenya Kwanza government for criticizing Uhuru for bad leadership although Ruto was the vice president at the time, according to a statement he made on Citizen TV on Monday.
“They never discuss how William Ruto, the current president, and previous deputy president, interacted with Uhuru Kenyatta. William Ruto must take responsibility for whatever faults he made over the first five years of their relationship, Onyanka stated.
Rigathi Gachagua, the deputy president, was also reprimanded by Onyonka for repeatedly placing the blame on Uhuru, stating he ought to exercise caution when speaking in public.
“But at some point, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua must know, and we have said this, his words mean a lot because he is not an ordinary Kenyan in the street, right now Kenyans are just fed up with his noise, the noise of you people has been creating the mess in this country,” he continued.
Onyonka further asserted that Ruto’s administration is continuing to commit errors by selecting unqualified individuals for key government jobs.
“If we get the list of people the president has appointed to the critical positions, it’s astonishing even president Moi never did what has been done by KK government,” he said. “Look at the list of people who have been appointed to that list; they know nothing about aviation.”
The senator went on to say that the opposition has no interest in the ‘Nusu Mkate’ power-sharing agreement and that their sole important function is to hold the current administration accountable.
He pleaded with Kenya Kwanza legislators to cease making what he called “noise” by charging that the opposition desired a say in the government.
