Deceased girls pullover with her admission number
Panic has gripped Sironga Girls High School after a Form Four student identified as Mitchell Cheptoo committed suicide early this morning.
Students at the school could not settle down as the tragic news spread like wildfire. Mitchell, a student from the Rift Valley, left a chilling note that read: “I will achieve my dream between 5am and 6am on 28th September 2024.”
Why Mitchell decided to take her life is still unknown. A contrary report stated that she jumped from the third floor of the administration block, she was found dead after jumping from the second floor of the dormitory. The incident took place at 5am when other students had just woken up for the Sabbath.
The school principal, Jane Nyanumba, has identified the girl. She has just spoken to the media, where she expressed her shock at the incident.
“Mitchell was a Form Four student in 4 Green, and she had not shown any signs of distress,” Principal Nyanumba said. “It is unfortunate and sad. The students were getting ready for the Sabbath when this happened.”
The administration immediately informed the parents of the girl, and the entire school is still in shock following the incident. Mitchell’s admission number was 13394. She was rushed to Nyamira County Hospital after the fall, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
