Nyeri Town Police officers with the help Kenya Revenue Authority [KRA] officials have seized 790 cartons of second-generation alcoholic drinks affixed with fake KRA stamps.
According to a statement by the National Police Service, the detectives who were acting on a tip-off from the public raided the premises in Nyeri Town and confiscated 740 cartons branded as Sweet Berry Vodka and another 50 cartons of Dallas Vodka.
The Thursday operation also saw one person arrested and charged.
“Police Officers from Nyeri Police Station in collaboration with KRA officials, conducted an intelligence-led operation within Nyeri Town and seized second-generation alcoholic drinks including 740 cartons branded as Sweet Berry Vodka, and 50 cartons of Dallas Vodka brands affixed with fake KRA stamps,” stated NPS.
NPS has since commended the public for working with sleuths through community policing to uncover the illegal activity.
