On Friday, President William Ruto declared that there will be no anti-government demonstrations the next week and threatened Azimio leader Raila Odinga with legal action.

“The election is concluded. He declared in Naivasha, “You cannot look for leadership by using Kenyans’ blood and destroying their property.

“These demos won’t take place. Pay close attention: In Kenya, you cannot seek power through extralegal or unconstitutional means. Attend 2027. I’ll defeat you once more.

Additionally, he said there would be no handshake since it had wrecked Kenya.

“I’ll be steadfast. I won’t budge an inch. Kenya belongs to us all. The chief of state said, “It is not for demonstrations.

Demos can only be performed at your home; elsewhere is prohibited. Don’t go somewhere else; do all you want to do at home. That is unacceptable to us.

Call for fresh demonstrations

The president spoke an hour after the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya alliance said that nationwide protests will resume the following week on three consecutive days.

The Azimio leadership announced in a statement that the following protests will occur on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

The Azimio statement says, in part, “Going forward, the peaceful protests will be held on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday next week in line with the public’s request to include three days of activity.”
