Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has dared President William Ruto to ensure that the Kenya Kwanza Alliance party walks and works as one.
Speaking at PEFA Church in Thika, Kiambu County, he reminded them of how important it is for the country to develop if all leaders stand together.
“Ningetaka kuuliza rais wetu ajaribu tu, aweke nyumba yake pamoja tuweze kufanyia wananchi kazi,” Gachagua said. Translating to “I would like to ask our President to put his house in order so we can work for the citizens.”
Gachagua observed that for two years since their election, a lot of work still remains at a standstill.
Projects in the key sectors of roads, water, energy, and education are yet to be undertaken as anticipated.
He brushed aside internal fights as inconsequential “If you ask me, all those plans are useless because we were given five years to serve Kenyans.”
Gachagua said: “The government is just like your homestead; if something is not right in your house, the head of the family sits down with his wife and children and it is resolved”. He warned that division would irreparably damage the party and the government.
The Deputy President warned Ruto to ensure division or betrayal does not enter UDA. He said, “Our people hate betrayal, and they are very unforgiving if you betray them.”
He reminded them that the people of Mt. Kenya stood with Ruto when he faced betrayal. Now, Gachagua challenged the executive to focus on development instead of internal conflicts.
Gachagua’s political woes started to be seen when 48 MPs from the former Central province declared support for Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki as their regional kingpin.
The shift occurred barely a week after 21 MPs from Mt. Kenya East declared support for Kindiki as their connection to President Ruto’s government.
