Safaricom has introduced a Ksh. 0.5 fee to its reverse call service to customers who use it more than twice a day.

The telecommunication giant has revised the terms for the service which previously provided free unlimited calls this is a move to increase revenue.

In line with the new terms, the first two calls are free, with customers receiving messages after every reverse call.

However, they are informed that the third reverse call will be charged a Ksh.0.5 fee.

“You will be charged 50 cents on your third reverse call request. Please note you will not incur any other cost to use this service for the rest of the day,” read a message Safaricom has sent out to users of the feature.

The feature was first introduced in June 2019 to allow a customer to make a phone call without airtime by transferring the cost to the receiver.

It complemented the ‘Please call me’ service, enticing more customers to subscribe to the network and ultimately increase revenue.

According to the Financial year 2023/2024 results, Safaricom’s revenue grew 13.4 per cent to Ksh. 335.35 billion. This was mainly attributed to the M-pesa service and fixed data.
