State House has dismissed reports suggesting that President William Ruto would hold a State of the Nation Address today.

Najma Ismail, the Media Relations Director at State House, clarified the situation. “The poster circulating online is fake,” she stated.

She urged the public to disregard the media invite, emphasizing it did not originate from State House.

The misleading poster claimed that the media invite was issued by Emmanuel Talam, the Press Secretary. The false announcement suggested Ruto would speak at 4 PM, just hours before Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s press conference.

Gachagua’s press conference is scheduled for 7 PM at his official residence in Karen. It comes ahead of the impeachment debate in the National Assembly set for Tuesday, October 8.

While details remain scarce, it is anticipated that Gachagua’s address will address the impeachment matter.

“Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will hold a Press Conference at the Official Residence in Karen at 7 PM this evening, Monday, October 7, 2024,” the media invite read.

It further instructed, “Those who need to set up should be at the residence by 5 PM, and the rest of the crew by 5:30 PM.”
