STATE HOUSE SPOKESPERSON DENIES MORARA KEBASO’S CLAIM OF A PRESIDENTIAL JOB OFFER, ACCUSES ACTIVIST OF LIES

State House Spokesman Hussein Mohamed denied outright claims by human rights activist Morara Kebaso that President William Ruto had phoned him and offered him a job.

On Citizen TV, Hussein looked utterly surprised about Morara’s claims as he termed the claims “a statement of imagination.”

“I am shocked at what Morara is saying,” Hussein declared.

“I wonder why he lies on national TV that the President called him. It’s ridiculous that I got to respond to this, but let me do it because you, Jeff, let it happen here on TV. For the record, such a call never happened; it’s a statement of his imagination.”.

Mostly vocal and critical against the government, investigating government projects, Morara claimed that the President reached out to him personally.

According to Morara, though he received calls from people close to the President, it was the President himself who called him. The legislator revealed that a state position was being offered to him, which he turned down.

“Initially, I had calls from people around the President. Then eventually, I got a call from the President. I spoke to him very respectfully because he is our President and he has been given that mandate by the people. Whatever I was offered, I refused, I was offered a state position. Serikali ni kubwa,” Morara said.

Hussein further took issue with Citizen TV’s Jeff Koinange for allowing Morara to make those claims without asking him for proof.

He argued that Koinange should have framed Morara’s statements as “alleged” and not take them as gospel.

“What’s more astounding Jeff is that you can have anyone come on television and tell you such a thing without demanding any proof or substantiation and you just buy it,” said Hussein.

“All you should have done and said is those are his words or alleged claims from him, not just accept and say the president called him. Anybody can say that.”

“I am not going to follow in the footsteps of those leaders who used to record the president or put him on loudspeaker just to prove a point. I don’t think that is good manners. Because of that, I am not going to dwell on proving whether it happened or not. Isaac Mwaura knows it happened. William Ruto knows it happened. And that is it.”

Isaac Mwaura replied, denying any knowledge of such a call and called upon Morara to be forthright and patriotic.

“Morara Kebaso, I am not aware of any call from the President to you. Please examine your conscience and show some patriotism. I just bumped into you at KICC like any other fellow citizen. Be honest with yourself,” Mwaura said.
