

In a major shakeup, Treasury CS John Mbadi and Land CS Alice Wahome have made sweeping changes. These changes resulted in the dismissal of several top officials from their ministries.
On September 6, Treasury CS Mbadi issued a Gazette Notice announcing significant alterations.
Four members of the Kenya National Entrepreneurs Savings Trust were sacked. Martha Opisa Okochil, Louis Karisa, Ruth Jerotich, and Tom Okundi were removed from their positions.
CS Mbadi appointed new members to replace the dismissed officials. The new appointees are Irene Githiga, Kevin Bwire Mubadi, Joseph Kisoro Ogola, and Teresia Njenga.
Irene Githiga represents the Federation of Matatu Drivers and Conductors Association. Kevin Bwire Mubadi comes from the Kenya National Boda Boda Association. Joseph Kisoro Ogola is from the Kenya National Federation of Jua Kali Association. Teresia Njenga represents the Mitumba Association.
The Gazette Notice stated, “It is notified for the general information of the public that the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning has appointed the above to serve as Trustees to the Kenya National Entrepreneurs Savings Trust.” It continued, “They will serve for a period of three years, effective September 6, 2024.”
In a parallel move, Land CS Alice Wahome also made significant changes. She dismissed eight members from the Lamu West Land Control Board. Julia Wamboi Njuguna, Ali Omar Mohammed, Simon Muguro Mwarania, Julia Wamaitha Kimani, John Mbugua Njoka, Zeinabu Gobu Wako, James Muriithi Ngiriri, and Cecilia Wanjiku Ng’ang’a were removed.
CS Wahome announced new appointments to the board. The new members are Samoe Farouk Fadhil, Moses Kiarie Wanjiku, Omar Bakari Ibrahim, Nasra Abdurehman Omar, Biha Wanje Baya, Maalim Fadhili Maalim, and Abubakar Masoud Rashid.
The Gazette Notice read, “In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 of the Land Control Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development appoints the eight to be members of the Lamu West Land Control Board.” It added, “Their term will be for two years and six months, starting September 6, 2024.”6, 2024.
