UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI STUDENT PRESIDENT ROCHA MADZAO MISSING AFTER ALLEGED ABDUCTION

University of Nairobi Students’ Association President, Rocha Madzao, was reportedly missing and is yet to be found following a search. Sources reported that Madzao was abducted on Friday by unknown people while on his way home.
Sources from one of the students indicated that the UNSA top chief was last in contact with the UNSA chief of staff at about 9 pm.
“He called his personal assistant who is the chief of staff saying that he was being harassed by some men and after that his phone went off,” he said.
“The call abruptly ended after 23 seconds before he could name the location,” he added.
UNSA is now appealing for information on his whereabouts saying it has not heard any communication from him since then.
“If you have any information on Rocha’s whereabouts, please inform us,” a post circulated read.
Earlier during the day Friday, an unidentified group is alleged to have tried to arrest him in vain near hall 9.
This is after his address where he issued a one-week ultimatum to the government to scrap the new education funding model.
He said, “We are giving the government one week to scrap off this model, failure to which we shall demonstrate on 2nd September.”
He added, “I am imploring all students and citizens of goodwill to join us with good dancing shoes and vuvuzelas as we defend our right to free basic and compulsory education to every child.”
Saturday, some students blocked Uhuru highway section in protest over it before police dispersed.
The protest followed a “call to action” by UNSA Secretary-General Ramesh Saxena.
“We all know a university president missing for even 10 minutes is not a waiting matter,” urged Saxena while asking all student leaders across the country to stand in solidarity until the UNSA president is found,” said Saxena.
