Ruud van Nistelrooy named interim manager following Ten Hag’s dismissal.

Manchester United has officially dismissed Erik ten Hag from his role as manager due to the team’s disappointing start to the season. Ten Hag’s last game in charge was the 2-1 loss to West Ham on Sunday, which saw United drop to 14th in the Premier League standings, with only three wins in their first nine matches.

Alongside their domestic challenges, United currently ranks 21st out of 36 teams in the Europa League, with three consecutive draws in the competition.

Former club legend Ruud van Nistelrooy, who joined United as Ten Hag’s assistant last summer, will step into the role of interim manager. The club’s board informed Ten Hag of the decision on Monday morning, less than a day after the West Ham defeat at London Stadium.

Although the club extended Ten Hag’s contract for an additional year following their FA Cup final win over Manchester City in May, just three months later, his tenure has come to an end amid one of United’s toughest starts to a Premier League season.
