The arrival of AirAsia’s inaugural direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Nairobi has marked a historic milestone for Kenya’s aviation and tourism sectors. The AirAsia aircraft, carrying 337 passengers, landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Friday, where Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano led the welcoming ceremony.

“I am thrilled to welcome the first-ever AirAsia direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Nairobi, and to greet the 337 passengers and crew aboard this landmark journey,” said CS Miano at JKIA. She emphasized that this new route strengthens Kenya’s connection to Asia and promises to boost tourism by attracting more visitors from the region.

The aircraft received a ceremonial water salute upon landing, symbolizing the significance of this expanded link between Kenya and Asia. With direct flights now available, travel between the two regions is more convenient, enhancing opportunities for both tourism and business growth.

This new AirAsia route is expected to be a game-changer, supporting Kenya’s ambitions for tourism expansion and increasing global connectivity.
