Vaite, once a trusted driver for Kenyan musician Bahati and his wife Diana Marua, has spoken out about his decision to part ways with the family

Vaite, the former Bahati’s driver

In a candid interview, he shared his journey, the impact the Bahatis had on his life, and his reasons for moving on, dispelling rumors of animosity.

From Humble Beginnings to Trusted Driver

Vaite’s inspiring story began in construction before transitioning to selling bras and eventually becoming an Uber driver. His chance meeting with Bahati marked a turning point in his career.

Recalling their first encounter, Vaite said:
“The first time I drove Bahati, he was a client in my Uber. Even though he had his car, he’d call me occasionally. At that time, he wasn’t even married to Diana. Over time, we became friends, including with Diana.”

When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted his work, Vaite returned to his rural home. However, once restrictions eased, he resumed work in Nairobi and reached out to Bahati, who offered him a lifeline during a difficult time.

A Family-Like Bond

During his tenure, Vaite grew close to the Bahati family. He described Diana as especially generous, often including him in her shopping trips and buying items for his children.

“Bahati and Diana, may God bless you for where you’ve taken me from. They treated me well. Diana would take me shopping, buy her items, and tell me to pick things for my children,” he recounted.

Why Vaite Left the Bahatis

Vaite explained that his decision to leave was driven by a desire for personal growth and to create space for someone else to benefit from the opportunity. He emphasized that he left on good terms, dismissing any rumors of conflict.

“Life is about progression. If you’re on the first floor, aim for the second. My family and mind were growing, so I felt it was time for someone else to take the position and grow like I did. I didn’t leave with any bitterness,” he said.

Standing by the Bahatis

Vaite defended the Bahatis against critics, praising them for empowering their employees. He cited examples like Josephine and Irene, former staff members who have also achieved personal growth thanks to the family.

“When someone helps you grow, don’t tarnish their name. I left to give another driver a chance to elevate themselves too. Bahati and Diana have always treated their employees well,” he asserted.

A New Chapter for Vaite

As Vaite embarks on his next journey, he carries with him the valuable lessons and opportunities provided by the Bahatis. He has also ventured into social media, actively building his presence across various platforms to connect with a broader audience.

Vaite’s story serves as a testament to growth, gratitude, and the importance of lifting others as you climb.
