Tragedy struck in Kisumu as 23-year-old Edward Otieno Oyuru was brutally beaten to death following a dispute over a wheelbarrow. The assailant, identified as Ford Rakwach, reportedly attacked Oyuru using crude weapons, leading to the young man’s tragic death.
The Dispute and Attack
The incident occurred when Oyuru went to retrieve his wheelbarrow from Rakwach’s home, where he had left it after helping the suspect with some construction work. However, the action angered Rakwach, who pursued Oyuru back to his home and assaulted him. The attack, which took place over the weekend, left the victim with severe head injuries.
Despite being rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) for treatment, Oyuru succumbed to his injuries.
Police Efforts to Apprehend the Suspect
Kisumu East Sub County Police Boss Edward Masivo confirmed the incident and stated that the suspect, Rakwach, fled the scene immediately after the attack. Police are actively pursuing him, but he remains on the run.
The senseless killing has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving Oyuru’s family in deep mourning.
