It is official. Newly promoted Kenya Premier League side Shabana will play their home matches at Narok Stadium in Narok town.
Shabana Secretary General Elizaphan Kerama on Tuesday said Narok County government has given them permission to have their home games at the facility for at least two months.
Gusii Stadium is scheduled to be closed for major renovations from Tuesday. Governor Simba Arati is expected to launch the renovation works.
“As you are aware, our home ground is not fit to host Kenya Premier League games. We requested Narok to give us a temporary homeground and they accepted,” said Kerama.
Kerama added: “We have spoken to the Governor who has agreed that due to the urgent need for our home ground, we have at least two contractors doing the works and if possible the contractors should work day and night.”

Some of the works to be done include the construction of the perimeter and retainer walls, improvement of the playing surface, and installation of the drainage system.
On Tuesday, the Shabana fraternity will also hand over the National Super League trophy to Arati who is the club patron. The club is also expected to unveil BangBet as their official shirt sponsor. The Chinese gaming firm is expected to sponsor the team to the tune of Sh20 million per season.
“We shall release further details on Tuesday when we sign the deal. I don’t want to preempt the details before we put pen to paper,” Kerama added.
He said all players reported to camp on Sunday ready for their pre-season. The SG further noted that the six players to be axed will be officially given their release letters on Tuesday.
