The Kenya Women’s U20 National Team, Rising Starlets, thrashed Angola 6-1 in the first leg of the second-round FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier played at Nyayo National Stadium.
Coach Beldine Odemba’s charges now have one leg in the third round. If Rising Starlets emerge overall winner in the two-legged clash, they will meet the winner between Cameroon and Botswana in the third round.
In Sunday afternoon’s game, Madira Assassin’s Valerie Nekesa grabbed a hat trick with Charity Midewa also of Madira Assassins scoring a double and Faith Naliaka of Bukhaywa Secondary School wrapping up the scores for Kenya. Ivone Julio scored Angola’s consolation goal.
The Rising Stars were dominant throughout the game and would have won by a bigger margin.
The Rising Starlets will travel to Angola for the second leg on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, ahead of the away match on Saturday, October 14, 2023.
