In a series of fresh appointments, President William Ruto has reintroduced former Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa and ex-Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga into government positions, solidifying their roles in public service.
Aisha Jumwa Appointed as Kenya Roads Board Chair
Aisha Jumwa, who previously served as Gender CS until her dismissal in July 2024, has been appointed as the non-executive Chairperson of the Kenya Roads Board. The appointment, announced in a gazette notice on Friday, will see Jumwa serve for a term of three years. She replaces Ahmed Kolosh Mohamed, whose tenure was officially terminated.
President Ruto stated in the notice:
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 7 (1) (a) of the Kenya Roads Board Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Aisha Jumwa Katana to be the non-executive Chairperson of the Kenya Roads Board, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 17th January 2025.”
Millicent Omanga Joins Kenya Shipyards Limited
Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya has appointed Senator Millicent Omanga as a member of the Board of Directors at Kenya Shipyards Limited. Omanga’s three-year tenure commenced on January 14, 2025.
Other Key Appointments
Several other notable figures were included in the new wave of appointments:
- George Wanga: Named non-executive Chairperson of the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), replacing Jackton Boma Ojwang.
- Mohamed Ibrahim Elmi: Appointed Chairperson of the National Livestock Development and Promotion Service.
- Allan Kosgey: Appointed Chairperson of the Kenya Industrial Property Institute under Trade CS Lee Kinyanjui.
- Mary Wanjira Kimonye: Designated Vice-Chairperson of the Public Service Commission (PSC) for a six-year term.
