As disputes rock Shabana on who the bonafide patron is, the club’s chairman Jared Nivaton has reiterated that Kisii Governor is the club’s official patron.
Nivaton dismissed former FKF President Sam Nyamweya’s quest to reclaim the patron’s position.
“If there is any person out there who wants to be Shabana patron, you are welcome. Just come and top up sponsorship and we shall consider you. But from now and I speak with authority, as the chairman of Shabana, we only have one patron who is Kisii Governor Simba Arati,” Nivaton said.
Arati helped Shabana secure a Sh20 million sponsorship from Chinese gaming firm BangBet. The sponsorship was unveiled on Sunday evening at a Nairobi Hotel.
The one-year partnership is subject to extension in the subsequent year. On Monday, Nivaton told politicians not to politicize Shabana. “Sha”
As part of their sponsorship, BangBet will supply the team with three sets of playing kits, 70 pairs of playing boots, two pairs of tracksuits, two pairs of sneakers, and training kits.
Further, the team will receive Sh100, 000 per win. The sponsor promised a further Sh10 million if Shabana wins the 2023/24 season. The club continues with its pre-season.
On Saturday, Shabana held Muhoroni Youth to a barren draw at Muhoroni Stadium. On Wednesday, Shabana will battle it out with KCB at Kisii School as they step up their pre-season preparations.
After the friendly, Shabana heads to Kakamega for a series of build up matches. Shabana will open their KPL campaign against Murang’a Seal at Homa Bay Stadium on August 27.
