Premier League and FKF Women Premier League match officials have been told to uphold fairness and justice when officiating matches.

The remarks were made by FKF President Nick Mwendwa when he presided over the conclusion of a three-day pre-season PET training for the officials at Kasarani Stadium. FKF NEC Member  Anthony Makua, FKF Nairobi West Chairman Caleb Malweyi, and FKF CEO Barry Otieno also graced the event.

“We want to make sure that our match officials are upright, they understand fairness and justice, and are aware of how their decisions can impact the game for the better or worse. They also need to understand that if found taking part in match-fixing activities they will face the repercussions,” said Mwendwa.

Mwendwa emphasized the significance of these pre-season Physical Endurance Tests (PET) in preparation for the 2023/24 season. He highlighted that it is crucial for match officials to be well-trained and familiar with the new laws of the game.

“This pre-season PET is key to ensure our match officials are well-trained and understand the new laws of the game ahead of the 2023/24 season,” stated FKF President Nick Mwendwa.

The PET training exercise saw 114 match officials and 45 match commissioners drawn from the two top-tier leagues taken through endurance and agility drills to test their physical ability as well as medical tests to ascertain their fitness to officiate the league matches.

They were under the tutelage of Sylvester Kirwa, Stephen Oduor, Dorcas Moraa, Moses Osano, and Tabitha Njoroge.

FKF National Super League match officials are slated to commence their PET on Thursday, while the FKF Division One match officials will follow suit on Sunday. The FKF Premer League will kick off on Saturday with eight matches lined up.
