The Football Kenya Federation has entered into a partnership with the Machakos County Government to construct a FIFA-funded Technical Center in Machakos County.
This is in a bid to improve the national federation’s football infrastructure.
The county government shall lease 20 acres of land in Machakos to FKF for a period of 33 years for the construction of the center.
FKF, on its part, will commit $4.5 Million from its FIFA Forward funds dedicated to the development of the project.
The center is envisioned to have one natural grass pitch and two artificial turf pitches as well as an administration block fully equipped with offices and conference rooms.
FKF President Nick Mwendwa emphasized the need for football infrastructure across the country to support holistic football development.
This is as he also thanked the Machakos County Government for partnering with FKF on the monumental project.
“If we are to develop our football holistically, then we also have to develop our infrastructure. We have spent a lot hiring training venues for our national teams and special projects. This technical center will not only reduce our costs but also work towards giving our players a conducive environment to explore their potential,” said Mwendwa.
“I must say Asante Sana to Governor Wavinya Ndeti for welcoming us to Machakos. We believe that this project will be of mutual benefit to both FKF and Machakos County,” added the FKF President.
Details on the groundbreaking of the projects shall be announced in due course soon as funds for the project are made available to FKF by World Governing Body FIFA.
