Four individuals have tragically lost their lives in separate road accidents, with many incidents involving motorcycles, underscoring the growing concern over road safety in Kenya.


Isiolo-Marsabit Road Motorcycle Accident Claims One Life
In the first incident, a motorcycle carrying two pillion passengers lost control along the Isiolo-Marsabit road in the Lerata area. According to the police, the rider lost control, causing all passengers to fall onto the tarmac. They were rushed to Archers Post Sub-County Hospital, where one of the pillion passengers succumbed to head injuries while undergoing treatment. The rider and the other passenger were referred to Isiolo County Referral Hospital for further care, while the deceased’s body was transferred to the facility’s morgue for an autopsy.
Head-On Collision on Mombasa-Malindi Road
Another fatal accident occurred along the Mombasa-Malindi road when a motorcycle collided with an oncoming vehicle. Police report that the rider, traveling from Mtwapa, veered into the wrong lane, resulting in a head-on collision. The rider, who sustained serious head injuries, was taken to Coast General Hospital but unfortunately did not survive.
Single-Vehicle Crash on Nairobi-Nakuru Highway
In a separate incident on the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway near Kabati Centre, a vehicle carrying four passengers veered off the road and struck a tree after the driver reportedly lost control. One passenger sustained severe head injuries and was taken to Naivasha Sub-County Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. The other occupants escaped without injury.
Motorcycle Accident on Uganda Road in Eldoret
The fourth fatal accident took place along Uganda Road near Raiply in Eldoret. A motorcyclist attempting to overtake both a truck and a pedal cyclist struck the cyclist and lost control, crashing into the rear side of the truck. The motorcyclist died at the scene due to severe head injuries, while his passenger sustained minor injuries to the right hand and the cyclist sustained a knee injury. The injured were taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, where the motorcyclist’s body was also taken for autopsy.
These incidents highlight the need for enhanced road safety awareness and caution, especially among motorcyclists, to prevent further fatalities on Kenyan roads.
