Multiple world record holder Faith Kipyegon will be aiming to go to into history as the first woman to win three Olympic titles in a row as she battles in the 1500m final at the Paris Olympic Games on Saturday.

Kiyegon has already bagged a silver medal in the 5000m at the event, but she is determined to retain the gold in her speciality.

She will once again come face to face with Ethiopia’s Tsegay Gudaf who clashed with her in Monday’s night dramatic final at Stade de France.

“Let’s meet in the final, fingers crossed, “ Kipyegon simply said after winning her semis with a time of 3:58.64 on Thursday.

Kipyegon’s teammate Susan Ejore is equally prepared for a tough race.

Ejore sailed through after finishing fifth in her heat with a time of 3:56.57.

“I can’t explain how I’m feeling right now, I’m feeling very excited. It’s been a blessing and I have been working out the whole of my life for this and I’m so glad I made it to the final,” said Ejore.

“I don’t want to put ahead of myself, I will just do the same thing I did in the semis today, I just wanted to reach the final nothing else.”

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Wanyonyi has set his eyes on gold medal in tomorrow’s 800m final at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The world silver medallist clinched his heat after clocking 1:43.32 ahead of American Bryce Hoppel (1:43. 41).

His teammate Wycliffe Kinyamal failed to qualify after finishing third in the heat won by Algeria’s Djamel Sedjati (1:45.08).

“It’s always good to give your all in the semis and plan for the finals later. If Kinyamal could have controlled pace like me, maybe he would have raced 1:42 and advance into the semis because you never know what happens tomorrow,” said Wanyonyi

“The Algerian is a strong athlete, but I will take him head on. I have prepared well, and the body is okay.”
