Kenya Premier League giants Tusker has paid tribute to departing midfielder Jackson Macharia who leaves the club after seven years.

Macharia is among six players who have been released by the Brewers in the pre-season transfer window. The club has so far confirmed the departures of Kevin Monyi and Tanzanian defender Kalos Kirenge. Captain Humphrey Mieno is also said to have left but the club is yet to officially confirm.

“A long time servant of the club, diligent, hardworking and a motivating senior figure in the team, Jackson Macharia, leaves the club. A legend in his own right, we thank Masha for his time; seven years and nine months. All the best in your new adventure ‘dreader’,” the club said in a statement.

On his side, Macharia thanked the club for nurturing him. “I want to thank the team, from the brand, management, coaches, and my fellow players for the past seven years I have been at Tusker FC,” he said.

Macharia added: “I am who I am today because of this club, and I want to sincerely pay gratitude where it is due. I have enjoyed every moment, from the 2016 double season to our league-winning run in 2021. It is time for me to seek a fresh challenge and I want to wish the club all the best in the new season. Thank you Tusker FC, forever in my heart.“The midfield destroyer has already been linked to several FKF Premier League clubs ahead of next season.
