Japanese Kusaba among nine new players unveiled by Nairobi City Stars - Kenyan News

Nairobi City Stars has beefed up their squad ahead of the 2023/24 season by signing nine players among them Japanese attacker Yuto Kusaba.

Kusaba signed from FC Zenshin, said Nairobi City Stars chief executive officer Patrick Korir on Thursday afternoon when he unveiled the new signings.

Other signings include Sothnes Idah from Polisi FC in Tanzania, Brian Mose from Total Spurs, Narok, Gilbert Abala from Busia Sugar FC, and Edwin Mukolwe from Bidco.

Julius Ombacho from Luanda Villa, Robinson Asenwa from Vapor Sports, Brian Omondi from Kibera Black Stars, and Wycliffe Omondi from Migori Youth have also joined Simba wa Nairobi. Defender Omondi was Migori Youth’s captain last season.

“The club is excited. We have good additions who will help the club in the upcoming season. We are looking forward to an exciting and better season,” said Korir.

They will replace Kennedy Onyango who joined Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia, Salim Abdalla and veteran forward Ezekiel Odera who are currently provisionally suspended by the Football Kenya Federation over match manipulation allegations.

Others who left Simba wa Nairobi are goal keepers Steve Njunge and Jacob Osano have also left Simba wa Nairobi alongside Ulinzi Stars’ bound Herrit Mungai. Nairobi City Stars will open their campaign on Sunday against Muhoroni Youth at Kasarani Annex Stadium. Last season, the club finished 15th on the log, narrowly missing relegation to the second tier league.
