Kenya Premier League side AFC Leopards has named former international midfielder Tom Juma as the head coach.
Juma will be deputized by another former international striker Fred Ambani. Juma and Ambani both played for AFC Leopards. Juma has a wealth of experience as a coach and team manager.
Juma takes over from controversial Belgian Patrick Aussems who parted ways with the club following the expiry of his contract.
He coached Muhoroni Youth and Administration FC before rejoining Ingwe as team manager.
Ambani, a CAF B license holder is equally an experienced coach having coached former moneybags Wazito in the Kenya Premier League.
“His appointment as head coach comes after his significant contributions as an integral part of the coaching staff in the previous seasons.
The management is confident that this coaching duo will lead the team to greater heights in the upcoming season,” according to a statement from the club’s executive committee on Tuesday. Juma and Ambani started their job on Tuesday.
The club started their 2023/24 campaign pre-season on Monday. The club has so far lost Cliff Nyakeya and Nigerian Ojo Olaniyi in the current transfer window. Nyakeya is said to be headed to KPL champions Gor Mahia.
The club is currently banned from registering players after being reported to FIFA by Aussems over Sh20.5 million salary arrears and other overdue payables.
