Dozens of Students Fall Ill After Suspected Food Poisoning

At least 60 students from Kalyet Secondary School in Kipkelion, Kericho County, were rushed to Londiani Hospital on Monday morning, January 27, after displaying symptoms of severe stomachaches, diarrhea, and vomiting.

Hospital Superintendent’s Statement

Dr. Collins Kipkoech, Londiani Hospital’s superintendent, confirmed that most of the affected students have been stabilized and are expected to be discharged soon. However, a few will remain under observation to monitor their recovery progress.

“The students presented symptoms consistent with food poisoning, including vomiting and diarrhea,” Dr. Kipkoech explained.

The school administration has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident. Meanwhile, health officials are likely to conduct investigations to determine the exact cause of contamination and prevent future occurrences.
