Tragic Discovery in Nyamataro

Residents of Nyamataro in South Kitutu Chache, Kisii County, are reeling from shock after a young couple was found dead in their rented apartment under mysterious circumstances. The couple, identified as 28-year-old Vincent, a doctor at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, and his wife, 29-year-old Angela Moraa, were discovered holding hands in their home.
The grim discovery was made after neighbors detected a foul odor emanating from the house, prompting them to alert authorities. Angela’s body showed signs of decomposition, indicating the couple had likely passed away several days earlier.
Family’s Search for Answers
Vincent’s cousin, Evans Nyambunde, recounted the family’s growing concern after multiple failed attempts to reach him by phone. “We kept calling, but his phone was off. When we checked with Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, we learned he was last seen on Wednesday, November 27,” Nyambunde said.
The family’s worst fears were confirmed when the couple’s lifeless bodies were found in their home. Angela, reportedly linked to the United States, was found alongside her husband, deepening the family’s grief.
Mental Health Concerns Raised
Local elder Yuvinalis Oyagi expressed sorrow over the incident, urging community members facing hardships to seek help rather than resort to extreme measures. “It’s heartbreaking for adults to lose hope and take such actions. I encourage anyone struggling to speak out and seek support,” he advised.
Investigation Underway
The bodies were transferred to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary as investigations began. Authorities are working to determine whether foul play was involved or if the deaths were self-inflicted.
This tragic event has sparked conversations about mental health and the critical importance of fostering community support for those facing life’s challenges.
