Tusker coach Robert Matano is a man under siege.
The management of the Brewers has given the technical bench led by Matano one game to save their job.
Tusker chairman Robert Gacheru said Matano and company must win their game against KPL champions Gor Mahia this weekend to survive the chop. The game will be played at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday at 3 p.m.
In their last league fixture, Tusker suffered a shock 1-0 loss against minnows Shabana at Moi International Sports Center Kasarani.
“Matano and the entire technical bench have to beat Gor Mahia this weekend. They will leave the club in case of a draw or loss,” Gacheru told the Daily Nation.
After a stuttering start of the season, Tusker sits 7th on the log with eight points following two wins, two draws and two losses after six outings.
The coaches who have lost their jobs in the FKF Kenya Premier League are Tom Juma (AFC Leopards), Francis Harigingo (Sofapaka), Francis Baraza (Kenya Police), and Twahir Muhiddin (Bandari). Will Matano be the fifth coach to lose his job, only time will tell.
At the same time, three games will be beamed live by the league’s broadcast partner Azam TV. On Saturday, Azam will air the game between KCB and Ulinzi Stars from 3 pm while the Sunday games will be, Kariobangi Sharks FC Vs. Muhoroni Youth FC- Nyayo Stadium (1 PM) and Tusker FC Vs. Gor Mahia- Nyayo Stadium (4PM).
