National secondary school games kick off on a high note in Kakamega - Kenyan News

The Kenya Secondary Schools term two games kicked off on a high note on Tuesday in Kakamega with former soccer champions St Anthony’s Kitale walloping debutants  Matiliku 8-0.

In the one sided game, Adrian Kibet and Stanley Wasswa scored a brace each for the Solidarity Boys while Joseph Omuse, Alvin Kasavuli, Junior Gregory and Savid Wekesa scored a goal each for the Peter Mayoyo coached side.

“We wanted to start the competition on a winning note and we have done exactly that. We take one game at a time as we seek to reclaim our title,” said Mayoyo.

Western region champions Shanderema also drubbed North eastern region’s Khorof Harar 8-0 in a game that was played at Bukhungu Stadium.

In another encounter, Dagoretti High narrowly edged coast region’s Serani 1-0 in the game that was played at Kakamega High School while Nyanza region champions Agoro Sare came from a goal down to beat Kirangari 2-1.

In netball, Nyanza’s Oyugi Ogango thrashed Kinale 53-13 in a one sided encounter as Bukokholo upset Kaya Tiwi 42-20.

In boys’ volleyball, Namwela edged Tumaini 3-1 as Andersen defeated Nyanza’s Onjiko by straight sets. Vitengeni were straight set winners against Northern regions Furaha while Ruthumitu saw off Tetu High 3-2 in a five sets thriller.
