Mathare United on Monday unveiled a new look technical bench in preparation for the upcoming 2023/24 FKF National Super League season.
The team will be led by head coach Leonard Odipo while Geoffrey Maina
and Julius Mativo serving as his two assistants.
Elias Otieno will serve as the goalkeeping coach while James Otieno will head the youth team. Odipo returns to the club after briefly working in an assistant role under Salim Ali in 2020.
Mativo is also making a return and was last with the team at the conclusion of the 2021/22 season.
The new technical bench hit the ground running immediately on Monday conducting the first day of three-day trials with the sole aim of forming a team that will help in the club’s quest to return back to the top flight.
Speaking after his unveiling Odipo who is also a CAF coaches instructor said: “We have a tough task before us but I wouldn’t have accepted the opportunity if I did not believe I am the right man for the job.”
He was full of praise for his new look technical bench. “I have a competent team to work with. They are all experienced individuals who love the club and are passionate about their duties. Time for work is now,” he said.
Odipo’s sentiments were shared by CEO Jecton Obure who also added: “Last season ended with huge disappointment. But you cannot fall and stay down, you get up, dust yourself and continue working. I believe we have the right team for this new chapter and I am excited for what the future holds.”
The club has also advertised for the position of a strength and conditioning coach. They are seeking a highly skilled individual for the job.
