Police in Nyandarua County are searching for a woman who fled after her son tragically died in Manunga, Kipipiri, following a severe punishment.

Authorities report that the mother allegedly beat her son after accusing him of breaking a television valued at Sh14,000.

Witnesses say the boy went to bed on October 28, complaining of severe pain from the punishment. He was found unresponsive in his room the next morning, and police suspect he succumbed to the injuries from the caning.

The boy’s father, who was not home during the incident, was informed that his son had been crying in distress. The father questioned the mother about the reason for the punishment and, after receiving her explanation, retired to bed. When he checked on the boy the following day, he discovered the tragic outcome.

Police were called to the scene, and the boy’s body was taken to JM Kariuki Level Five Hospital in Olkalou, awaiting a post-mortem to confirm the cause of death. Authorities continue to investigate and are actively working to locate the mother for questioning regarding the events leading up to the boy’s death.

Separate Drowning Incident Claims Life of 23-Year-Old Man in Nakuru County

In Nakuru County’s Bondeni area, a 23-year-old man tragically drowned while attempting to cross a waterlogged area. Identified as Stephen Ndugu, he was swept away and trapped in a sewage canal amid heavy rainfall near Kingdom Seekers.

The Nakuru police, Red Cross, and a local rescue team recovered Ndugu’s body, which bore facial bruises from the incident. Authorities transported the body to the Provincial General Hospital mortuary, pending further investigation and an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
