

Relegated Mathare United on Saturday appointed Leonard Odipo as their head coach,
Odipo, a former Sony and Nairobi Stima coach has been charged with ensuring the Slum Boys’s quick return to the Kenya Premier after being relegated in the 2022/23 season.
Odipo who is also a CAF coaches instructor will take charge of the team in the upcoming National Super League season, according to the club’s chief executive officer Jekton Obure.
Obure also confirmed the appointment of Geoffery Maina as the first assistant and Julius Mativo as the second assistant coach.’


Others appointed were James Otieno (youth team coach), Elias Otieno (goalkeeper trainer), Rodrick Embukane (team physiotherapist), and James Ndung’u (team kit manager). He did not name the team manager and fitness trainer.
“The team manager and fitness trainer positions are being mulled over and shall be revealed before the new look technical bench oversees the first three days of trials that commence on Monday, July 24 at Goan Institute Grounds in Pangani, Nairobi,” said Obure.
The new technical bench will be unveiled on Monday at 7.30 am. Obure said NSL preparations immediately after the club was relegated from the top-tier league. Mathare United was relegated after finishing 17th in the just-concluded KPL season. Vihiga Bullets finished 18th.
