Ruto Tells Off Critics Of NHIF Reforms - Kenyan News

President William Ruto on Friday said that reforms in the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) are aimed at ensuring universal healthcare for all.

Speaking in at his Sugoi home in Turbo, Uasin Gishu county, Ruto told off critics of the reforms, saying they were up to no good and were opposed to the transformation of the country.

“We have reduced monthly payments to NHIF to make it easy for most people. The Government will pay for those who do not have the means to pay,” Ruto said.

The president announced that, instead of KSh500, the majority of Kenyans without formal jobs will now be required to pay KSh300 monthly contributions to the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).

Ruto commented on the affordable housing project, saying it is inappropriate for certain individuals to rush to court to thwart initiatives meant to better the lives of Kenyans.

Aiming to provide affordable housing, 200,000 new homes will be constructed annually. Over 120,000 people have found employment through the program thus far. Ruto declared, “Our duty is to elevate Kenya, not to demolish it.

The Head of State also urged Kenyans to start and support sustainable income-generating ventures by utilizing the Hustler Fund.

He claimed that the fund, particularly in the rural areas, has improved the lives of many Kenyans who are at the bottom of the economic pyramid.

“As you borrow from the Hustler Fund, also remember to pay to help others get access to the funds,” asked the man.

The president declared that in order to boost food production, his administration would keep reforming the agriculture industry. He claimed that as a result of industry reforms, food production has increased this year by 40% over last.

“I’d like to thank farmers for taking advantage of reforms, such as the reduction of fertilizer prices from KSh7,000 to KSh2,500.” “We will continue to reform the sector in order to improve production,” he added.

Ruto also used the occasion to wish Kenyans a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2024.

He was accompanied by First Lady Rachel Ruto, Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii, and his Nairobi counterpart Johnson Sakaja.

Ruto gave out Christmas gifts to residents in the area, which included maize flour, sugar, and cooking oil.
