Senior Sergeant Vincent Moriero Odhiambo has been named as Kenya Premier League side Ulinzi Stars head coach on an interim basis.

He takes over from Bernard Mwalala who joined rivals KCB on a reported one-year deal.

Mwalala will take over from Zedekiah Zico Otieno who parted ways with KCB following the expiry of his contract.

Ulinzi Stars management announced the appointment of Mwalala on the club’s official Facebook page on Tuesday afternoon.  

“Odhiambo is a dedicated and talented member of our coaching staff and will be taking charge on an interim basis. He has also been an integral part of our team for several seasons and has worked closely with Bernard Mwalala and Other Several Coaches gaining valuable experience and insights into our playing style, strategies, and team dynamics,” said the statement.

The management added: “It is with mixed emotions that we inform you of the resignation of our beloved head coach, Bernard Mwalala. He has played an instrumental role in shaping our team, leading us to numerous victories, and fostering a culture of dedication, teamwork, and excellence.”\

They thanked Mwalala for the contributions he made to the team during the period he served as head coach.

“We are deeply grateful for the contributions made by him and the impact he has had on our players, staff, and team as a whole. Thank you for being the heartbeat of our team. Together, we will continue to strive for greatness,” they concluded.

Reports on Tuesday indicated that former international Sammy Pamzo Omollo was headed to Ulinzi.
